iPhone 16 technical specs and price
The iPhone 16 stands out as the most affordable option compared to the other members of the series. However, considering the general price levels in the smartphone market, you might think otherwise. So, let’s delve into the features of the iPhone 16.
Design
When we take a look at the features of the iPhone 16, we can start with the design. Unlike last year’s iPhone 15, the rear cameras in this new model are placed vertically instead of in a diagonal layout. Another design innovation is the Action button.
The Action button, which was featured in the Pro models of the iPhone 15 series, has been added to the iPhone 16. When pressed, this button performs a function assigned through the Settings app. For example, it can be used to open the camera, turn on the flashlight, or activate functions like VoiceOver. This is an important feature of the iPhone 16.
There is another significant design change in the iPhone 16, which is the Capture button. Located on the right side of the phone, this button makes taking photos and recording videos much easier, adding a layer of practicality.
Processor
The iPhone 16 is powered by the Apple A18 processor. Manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm N3P process, this chip consists of two performance cores and four efficiency cores. The GPU, on the other hand, has six cores.
The Apple A18 offers 30% better graphics performance and 10% less power consumption compared to its predecessor, the A17. This is a key element that enhances the user experience and highlights the iPhone 16’s features.
Another notable feature of the Apple A18 chip is hardware-based ray tracing. This technology, found in Nvidia’s high-end graphics cards, provides higher-quality graphics, especially in gaming.
The new processor is 40% faster than the A16 Bionic chipset used in the iPhone 15 and twice as fast as the A14 Bionic in the iPhone 12.
Display
The iPhone 16 also stands out with its display features. The smartphone comes with a 6.1-inch OLED display that offers a peak brightness of 2000 nits.
RAM and Storage
The iPhone 16 comes with 8 GB of RAM and three storage options: 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB. The iPhone 15 had 6 GB of memory, and it is known that Apple increased this amount based on the requirements of Apple Intelligence.
Front Camera
When we look at the iPhone 16’s front camera features, we see that it has a 12-megapixel lens. This camera can record 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD) video at 60 fps.
Rear Cameras
There are three cameras on the back of the smartphone: the main camera, telephoto camera, and ultra-wide-angle camera. The 48-megapixel OIS-supported main camera offers an aperture of f/1.6 and a focal length of 26mm, with a pixel size of 2.0 μm. The ultra-wide-angle camera has a resolution of 12 megapixels, an aperture of f/2.4, and a focal length of 13mm.
The telephoto camera is housed within the main lens and offers 12 megapixels and 2x zoom. Its focal length is 52mm, the pixel size is 1 μm, and it has an aperture of f/1.6.
Like the front camera, the rear camera can also record 4K video at 60 FPS. Additionally, it is important to note that there is a 240 FPS recording option in Full HD resolution.
Battery and Charging
The iPhone 16 is powered by a 3,561 mAh battery. This is a 6% increase compared to the iPhone 15’s 3,349 mAh battery. Of course, battery life also depends on how efficiently the device uses its power, in addition to battery capacity.
